New Kawarau Gorge Trail

The launch of the Kawarau Gorge Trail is one of the most exciting additions to the NZ cycling network.

nzbiketrails looks forward to hosting riders on this trail from their Queenstown base of the Kinross Winery - our favourite vineyard on the Queenstown Trails with great accommodation, fantastic food and refreshments to enjoy once we return you from your ride .

nzbiketrails recommends e-bikes on this trail for all riders. The trail grade is Grade 1-3 - similar to the Lake Dunstan Trail. As a guide even if you haven’t ridden recently, have grown up with a bike and are comfortable changing gears/stopping & starting/passing other riders then even if you haven’t ridden an e-bike before we will get you confident on an e-bike before you start the ride.

If you loved the Lake Dunstan Trail, you’ll love Kawarau Gorge.

If the Dunstan Trail wasn’t for you, this probably won’t be either.

Please note - The trails are wider than the Lake Dunstan Trail (to be able to take maintenance vehicles) but the trail is expected to be busier.
