The Lake Dunstan Trail

The Lake Dunstan Trail is a feat of engineering opening in May 2021. A 42km purpose built official NZ Great Ride.

The Lake Dunstan Trail is a two-way trail with 70% of bikes riding from Cromwell to Clyde, in the prevailing wind direction.

nzbiketrails timings are designed to get you on the trail so that you can enjoy your ‘Self Guided' ride, have a nice stop at the Carrick Winery and get to Clyde with time to have a celebratory drink at one of the local cafe’s and restaurants that we will recommend. Most riders arrive in Clyde between 1pm and 2.15pm with a transfer from Clyde back to your vehicles at 3pm.

Our Lake Dunstan Ultimate Experience includes a Dunstan Explorer Boat return where the Skipper will share the history of our ‘Gold Rush’ Gorge and point out a some interesting points that you may not have seen on your ride
